Are Your Walkways Too Formal?

Walkways and driveways help guide the flow of traffic to a certain destination.

While this is a good thing, be careful how you plant along these areas.

Walkways, when lined with borders, hedges, or other plant materials, can become too formal and prominent in the landscape.

Balance this out by using enough plant materials to lessen the impact of large areas of pavement, but still allow grass, ground covers, or less formal plantings to meet the pavement in areas.

Gardening-tip:

Plant Dwarf Varities

If you love fruit tress like apples, peaches, pears and plums, but don't have the room, plant a dwarf variety.

Most grow from 3 feet to 8 feet. They product tons of fruit and are easier to harvest because they are low to the ground.
