Building a Garden Bench

Part of gardening is sitting in the garden enjoying the fruits of your labor.  Here is an easy garden bench you can build to sit on while you enjoy your garden.  You will need two 1 X 12 X 8 boards for the bench.

1) Cut two pieces 22 inches long, 2 pieces 23 inches long, and one piece 32 inches long from the boards.

2)Cut 1 1/2 inches off the side of the two 22 inch pieces, leaving the boards 9 1/2 inches wide.

3)Use screws to assemble one of the 23 inch pieces of board to the top of the two 22 inch boards.

This is what the piece should look like now:

4)Assemble the other side.

5)Fashion the top bench to the box you have now.

6)Paint any color you desire and you have a completed garden bench.

Use Edgings

Nothing finishes off a flower bed like low, long flowering edging plants.

Alyssum, lobelia, and dianthus are great for just this purpose.

For good continual flowering, also fertilize every few weeks with a balanced fertilizer like a 15-15-15.
