Weeds Going - Going - Gone!
Whew! My project is complete! And.... Look at how much better it looks! I can't believe it!
It really didn't take long. I am so pleased with how nice the yard looks without any broadleaf weeds.
Everything is filling in very nicely, and with the extra compost I added, the lawn is really looking happy.
I think too, it was a good example to show just how easily the whole process can be, getting rid of broadleaf weeds in your lawn, by doing it all with organic products.
Of course now with all this scrutiny, I realize how ragged the ends of the grass blades are getting, so now I need to sharpen the blades on my mower.
Luckily I know how to do that, and in fact, I just wrote an article on How to Sharpen Lawn Mower Blades!
That's the fun thing about the green industry there is always something new to learn, try, or share with others.
Next week I have a really cool new gardening idea I want to share with everyone. I think you'll want to try it out.
Have a great week.

what about binderweed or bindervine???How can it be erdicated,as it is difficult to control

Hi,
Well, unfortunately binder weed is a whole other matter.
Binder weed can sprout from seed each year and can grow very quickly, plus binder weed has roots that over winter and can grow one to two feet (.5 m) underground below the frost line.
Rototilling the area just makes the situation worse, because you end up with hundreds of new plants.
The problem with organic weed controls is that they are not systemic, so they will only kill the vegetation they actually come in contact with, whereas, and I hate to say it, chemical sprays like Roundup move down through the plant and kill the roots.
For something as noxious as binder weed, chemicals, like Roundup or Brush bGon, applied to the leaves will work well.
If your problem is very bad, it can take up to 3 seasons, with constant vigilence to rid of it.
Lastly, if any new binder weed plants shoot up, apply more Roundup immediately.
It can be gotten rid of, but it's going to take time and effort, and while you may need to use some chemcials judiciously in this case, you can continue an organic regiment elsewhere in your yard to maintain some balance.
Good luck, and let me know how it goes!
